Here's where this one stands right now - a brand new home with a big open yard that needs to be properly shaped before any real landscaping can happen. That's exactly what we're in the middle of doing. Topsoil work and grading on a site like this isn't glamorous, but it is everything.

The thing most people don't realize about new construction lots is that builders leave them rough. Really rough. The ground is uneven, compacted in the wrong spots, and not set up to drain the way it needs to. If you skip proper grading and just throw seed or sod down, you end up with pooling water, dead patches, and erosion problems that are a nightmare to fix later.

We're working to move and spread topsoil across the entire yard, shaping the grade so water moves away from the house and flows where it should. It's careful, methodical work. You're not just pushing dirt around - you're setting up every single thing that comes after it. Lawn, planting beds, retaining walls, landscape design - none of it holds up long-term without a solid base underneath.

Getting the grade right now means less headache down the road. A smooth, properly pitched yard makes installation easier, keeps grass healthier, and protects the foundation over time. We take this phase seriously because we know we'll be back to do the next phase - and we want everything to line up perfectly when we do.
